Part of Roel Burghouwt’s degree was writing a strategic marketing plan for a Dutch bank.
It was good, very good, and it solidified his decision to change his career path from a zoo keeper to a financial planner.
So he said goodbye to his five-year-old-self’s dreams for good.
It was a good decision. With an expertise in pre-retirement planning, financial adviser Roel is part of a bigger picture at First Financial – a phenomenal adviser training program and a unique investment strategy. And that’s just the way he likes it.
“A key part of my job is simplifying complex financial matters and helping clients feel they’re in control of their finances,” Roel says.

In his spare time, Roel enjoys riding through the Victorian alps, and long family bike rides with his two sons.
He supports Feyenoord (Dutch soccer team) and of course, the mighty Melbourne Storm.
And he does enjoy a strong latte!
