Jo Zhao’s career started with a Bachelor of Medical Science, but after a couple of years working within a hospital environment, she realised that it wasn’t her passion.
“I enjoyed it but I felt there were limitations… while I was working in the hospital, I developed a strong interest in finance… I have a lot of family and friends working in the finance industry and that definitely influenced me to do my Masters.”
When Jo completed her Masters at Curtin University in Perth there weren’t very many job opportunities, so she moved to Melbourne and eventually found her home here at First Financial.
“I joined the First Financial team in May 2019 and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. The Associate Adviser position appealed to me because I was looking for real career development. I feel that I have some great opportunities here. I love that I learn something new every day.
Working with Graeme Quinlan is wonderful. He is an excellent mentor and extremely experienced in financial planning. I think the level of customer service we offer is really high… it’s very satisfying.
We have a great work life balance and while the team is professional… we are all friendly and down to earth. The culture here is everything!”
Outside of work, Jo is a huge music fan… from love song ballads to jazz and rock… it’s the perfect way to de-stress. She also enjoys getting out of the city:
“On the weekend I like to go to the National Park for a hike… it’s nice to immerse myself in nature. It’s great to get away from the urban environment.”
